Why use this video to text converter

  • The language is detected for you

Most widely spoken languages are recognized on their own, so there’s nothing to pick.

  • Subtitles with timestamps

SRT and VTT files give every line its start and end time, ready for a video player or editor.

  • Text to copy or download

Copy the words straight from the page, or save them as a plain TXT file.

  • Deleted after 2 hours

The video and the transcript are deleted from our server automatically 2 hours later.

Ways to use the video to text converter

  • Subtitles for your videos

Add captions so people can follow along with the sound off.

  • Meeting and interview notes

Search, quote and share what was said instead of watching the recording again.

  • Notes from lectures

Read a lesson back at your own pace, or keep the text next to the video.

  • Articles and show notes

Start a blog post, a summary or a video description from what was said on camera.

Questions

Can’t find your answer? Write to feedback@videocompressor.xyz.

Which languages work?

Most widely spoken languages. The language is detected from the start of the video, so a video in one language works best.

How accurate is the transcript?

Clear speech with little background noise usually comes out well. Music, noise, strong accents and people talking at once cause more mistakes, so read it through before you use it.

What’s the difference between TXT, SRT and VTT?

TXT is just the words. SRT and VTT are subtitle files with a time for every line: SRT works in most video players and editors, VTT in web players.

How do I add the subtitles to my video?

Load the SRT or VTT file next to the video in your player, or import it into your video editor or YouTube. The subtitles aren’t burned into the picture.

Does it translate the video?

No. The transcript is in the language that’s spoken in the video.

Is my video uploaded?

Yes: transcribing runs on our server. The video goes there over an encrypted connection, its sound is transcribed by Cloudflare Workers AI, and the video and the transcript are deleted 2 hours later.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no email address. Videos can be up to 1 GB and 60 minutes long, 5 per day across all our tools.
