Video Compressor

Convert video to MP4

Turn any video into an MP4. When the video inside already fits an MP4, it’s copied as is: seconds, not minutes, and no quality lost.

How to convert a video to MP4

  1. 01

    Choose a video

Drop it on the page or pick it from your files, photo library or camera roll.

  2. 02

Keep the video, or make it H.264

Keep the video for a perfect copy in seconds. Make it H.264 when it has to play on older phones, TVs or Windows PCs.

  3. 03

    Download the MP4

Play it on the page, then save it.

Why use this MP4 converter

  • Seconds, not minutes

Most videos already hold H.264 or HEVC, which an MP4 can carry as is. Only the container changes, so even an hour of video is done in moments.

  • Not a pixel lost

A copied video is bit for bit the original, HDR and all. Nothing is compressed again unless you ask for H.264.

  • Done on your device

When your browser can handle the video, the work happens right there and the video never leaves your device.

  • H.264 when it has to play everywhere

One switch makes H.264, which every phone, TV, browser and editor plays, at a quality close to the original.

Ways to use the MP4 converter

  • iPhone and Mac videos

Turn MOV files from an iPhone, QuickTime or a screen recording into MP4 for Windows, Android and the web.

  • OBS and game recordings

Many OBS setups still record MKV. Make it an MP4 that editors, Discord and YouTube take.

  • Old camera and download formats

Give AVI, WMV and FLV files a modern MP4 that plays in any browser.

  • Upload forms that only take MP4

Many sites accept nothing but MP4. Convert first, and the upload goes through.

Does converting to MP4 lose quality?

Not when the video is kept: it’s copied into the MP4 exactly as it was. Making it H.264 encodes it again at a high quality, close to the original but not identical.

Why is it so fast?

Because nothing is encoded again. MOV, MKV and MP4 are containers, and the H.264 or HEVC video inside an MOV or MKV fits an MP4 too, so it’s moved over as it is.

When should I make it H.264?

When the video is HEVC (H.265) and has to play on a Windows PC without Microsoft’s HEVC extension, an older Android phone, a TV or an older editor. H.264 plays everywhere; HEVC is smaller but not supported everywhere.

Which formats can I convert?

MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP and more. Formats your browser can’t read go to our server, where a video can be up to 1 GB and 60 minutes long.

What happens to HDR video?

Kept as it is when the video is copied, so it still looks right on HDR screens. Made H.264, it’s converted to standard colors, which look right on any screen.

Is the MP4 bigger or smaller?

About the same size when the video is copied. Made H.264, it can come out bigger, especially from HEVC. To make it smaller, use the video compressor instead.

Is my video uploaded?

Not when your browser can do the work: then the video never leaves your device. Otherwise it goes to our server over an encrypted connection and is deleted 2 hours later.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no watermark, no email address. Videos that need our server can be up to 1 GB, 5 per day.
