Compress video on iPhone
No app to install. Open this page in Safari, pick a video from Photos and choose how small it should be.
Why iPhone videos are so big
An iPhone films at a high bitrate so every detail survives, and a minute of 4K video takes well over 100 MB. That’s great for keeping memories, but too big for most messages, emails and upload forms, and it fills your storage fast. And the bigger the file, the longer it takes to upload anywhere.
This page shrinks it without an app. Tap the drop area, and iOS offers your photo library, the camera and Files. Pick a size, and save the result. When your iPhone can handle the video, it’s compressed right in the browser; otherwise it’s uploaded to our server, compressed there and deleted 2 hours later.
iPhone 12 and later record HDR video by default, and HDR videos are always compressed on our server, which converts them to standard colors that look right on any screen. To record new videos without HDR, turn off HDR Video in Settings › Camera › Record Video.
Why compress on your iPhone here
No app, no account
Nothing to install and nothing to sign up for. It works in Safari, Chrome or any other browser on your iPhone.
Straight from Photos
Pick a video from your photo library, or film one on the spot, without exporting it first.
Back to Photos with Share
When your iPhone compressed the video, Share opens the share sheet, where Save Video puts it in Photos. Downloads go to the Files app.
No location attached
iPhone videos record where you filmed them. The compressed MP4 carries no location and no details about your phone.

Questions

Do I need to install an app?
No. Everything happens on this web page, in Safari or any other browser. There’s no account and no watermark either. To keep it one tap away, add the page to your Home Screen from Safari’s share menu.
Is my video uploaded?
Only when it has to be. If your iPhone can compress the video in the browser, it stays on your phone. HDR videos, and videos your iPhone can’t handle in the browser, are uploaded to our server over an encrypted connection and deleted 2 hours after compressing. The page shows which one it will use, and you can switch.
Why is my video going to your server?
Most likely because it’s HDR, which iPhones record by default; browsers can’t convert HDR colors properly. And if Safari runs out of memory on a long 4K video, the page reloads and suggests our server for the next try. The reason is always shown under the switch between This device and Our server.
How do I save the result to Photos?
If your iPhone compressed the video, tap Share and choose Save Video. A downloaded video goes to Downloads in the Files app; open it there, tap Share and choose Save Video.
Can I lock my phone while it compresses?
Keep the page open and in front until it’s done. iOS pauses web pages in the background, which stops compressing on your phone, and an upload to our server has to finish first. While it compresses on your iPhone, the page keeps the screen on where iOS allows it.
Will the video still look good on my iPhone?
Yes, at sensible sizes; compare it with the original before you save it. The result keeps its frame rate, and portrait videos stay portrait. Choose H.265 for a smaller file with the same detail: iPhones have played it since iOS 11.
How long a video can I compress on my iPhone?
On your iPhone it depends on free memory and storage, and very long 4K videos can be too much. On our server a video can be up to 1 GB, 60 minutes and 4K, and you can compress 5 a day there.
Does it work on an iPad?
Yes, the same way: open the page in Safari and pick a video from Photos or Files. A bigger screen makes it easier to compare the result with the original.
