Videos for your WhatsApp Status
A Status video has a length limit on top of the size limit. WhatsApp doesn’t publish it, and it has grown in recent versions, rolled out to some phones before others. It depends on your app version: usually 60 to 90 seconds.

What is WhatsApp’s video size limit?
16 MB for a video sent from the gallery or camera. As a document you can send up to 2 GB, but it won’t play in the chat.
Why not just let WhatsApp compress it?
WhatsApp makes you cut videos over the limit down to a short clip. Compressing first keeps the whole video, and you choose the size instead of the app.
How long a video fits in 16 MB?
At 720p, a little over a minute. Longer videos are compressed at a lower resolution, down to 360p for about four and a half minutes. For anything longer, trim it first or send it as a document.
Will my video look worse?
A little, and less the shorter it is. When 15 MB isn’t enough for the full resolution, we lower the resolution instead of letting the picture turn blocky. Compare it with the original before you download.
How long can a WhatsApp Status video be?
WhatsApp doesn’t say, and the limit has changed between app versions: usually 60 to 90 seconds. Cut a longer video down to the part you want with our video cutter, then compress it under 16 MB.
